PIECP lets certified prison industries sell goods across state lines if they pay prevailing wages and meet other requirements. Deductions for room and board, victim compensation and family support are allowed within limits.
PIECP matters for CRP's creator variant, where incarcerated makers could earn a revenue share on goods they produce.
