What is Lobby Kiosk Deposit?
A machine in a jail lobby where family can deposit cash or card payments into an incarcerated person's account, often for a fee.
A lobby kiosk is a machine, usually in a jail's public lobby, that lets you add money to your loved one's account. Many accept cash as well as credit and debit cards.
Fees vary by provider. At the Sedgwick County, Kansas jail, the kiosk company charges a minimum of $3.25 for cash deposits, and the greater of $3.25 or 10% for card deposits. Johnson County, Kansas lists kiosk hours of 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., asks for the person's six-digit Criminal File Number, and says staff will not take deposits by hand.
Before you go, check the facility's website for hours, fees and the ID number you will need.
