What is VINE (Custody Status Lookup)?
VINE is a free service that lets anyone check a person's custody status in local jails and sign up for alerts on changes.
VINE stands for Victim Information and Notification Everyday. It was built as a free, anonymous service for crime victims, but anyone can use it to check a person's custody status and location in county jails and local detention facilities.
In Minnesota, a search can show the facility, its contact details and scheduled release information. Registered users can get alerts by phone, email or text when a person is transferred or released. Status information is available 24 hours a day.
Coverage varies by state, so check which facilities your state's VINE includes.
