Release savings account

A protected sub-account that builds during incarceration and is paid out at discharge.

A release savings account is a portion of a person's funds that is set aside and locked until release. Some states require one by law; Washington's RCW 72.09.111 is the clearest example.

CRP's default destination for cash value is a statutory or agency-approved release savings sub-account, so the money is there on day one of reentry instead of being spent or seized along the way.
