What is TRULINCS?
The federal prison system's electronic messaging service, which lets people in BOP custody send text-only messages to approved contacts.
TRULINCS is the electronic messaging system used in federal Bureau of Prisons facilities. It lets your loved one trade text messages with people on an approved contact list. Contract facilities do not have it.
To become a contact, your loved one adds you, staff approve it, and you get an automated message through CorrLinks asking whether you accept. Messages are text only with no attachments, are limited to 13,000 characters, and are monitored. People in custody do not get internet access.
The BOP says no tax dollars pay for the service. It is funded through user fees and trust fund profits.
