Trust account
The account a facility holds for each incarcerated person to receive deposits and pay for purchases.
Every incarcerated person has an account held by the facility, often called an inmate trust account. Family deposits, wages and gate-money set-asides go in. Commissary, tablet, messaging and medical copays come out.
Money in a trust account can be taken for restitution, court fines and fees, child support and pay-to-stay charges. That is why CRP does not simply drop rebates into the general trust balance.
